The Hothur Foundation, established in 2011, is a Bengaluru-based non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting economically disadvantaged communities and addressing critical social issues, particularly those affecting women. Rooted in a family tradition of giving, the foundation provides comprehensive support in areas such as education, healthcare, maternity assistance, psychological counseling, and infrastructure development.
Under the leadership of Managing Trustee Hothur Shadab Wahab and Executive Director Kulsum Shadab Wahab, the foundation has expanded its reach, focusing on empowering women and rehabilitating survivors of gender-based violence, including acid and burn attacks.

ARA LUMIERE
One of the foundation's flagship initiatives is Ara Lumiere, a fashion label founded by Kulsum Shadab Wahab. This brand transforms the narratives of acid and burn survivors by involving them in the creation of handcrafted couture.
Each garment and accessory is a testament to resilience, allowing survivors to reclaim their identities and express their journeys through art. Ara Lumiere has gained international recognition, showcasing its collections at Milan Fashion Week and receiving accolades such as the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Award in 2022.
Beyond fashion, the Hothur Foundation continues to support survivors through medical treatments, psychological therapy, and initiatives aimed at achieving financial independence. By intertwining art, empowerment, and social responsibility, the foundation not only challenges conventional beauty standards but also fosters a more inclusive and compassionate society.

WHY ARA?
Ara Pret, a subsidiary of Ara Lumiere, is more than just fashion — it is a movement born from the courage and resilience of acid attack survivors. Rooted in the belief that fashion can be a tool for transformation, Ara Pret offers accessible, ready-to-wear collections that combine contemporary design with a powerful social mission.
Each piece is inspired by the stories of the survivors we work with — women who have turned pain into power and now stand as symbols of strength and hope. By choosing Ara Pret, you are not just wearing a garment; you are carrying forward a message of empowerment, dignity, and change.
At Ara Pret, fashion is a form of storytelling. As an extension of Ara Lumiere, which works directly with acid attack survivors through the Hothur Foundation, our collections celebrate the beauty of resilience.
